The implementation process is multi-stage. It requires planning, deployment, setup and configuration, customization if needed, data conversion, administrator and user training, testing in your environment, a short period of parallel processing, and an acceptance by management that the system is ready to “go live”. Then there is “go live” and on-going support and training.

Implementation is also an opportunity to review your business processes and to re-engineer as required. This can have a high payoff as it streamlines your business processes, enhances your vendor and customer relationships and adds confidence to your staff. You set the rules and this requires detailed understanding of your business.
The implementation process should be as quick and easy as possible. For a licensed system, it should only cost a fraction of the cost of the software license. For a SaaS implementation, it will depend upon the services required. The process should be supported by templates and pre-set processes, whenever possible, to simplify the process.
